Consultations

Dedicated Schools Grant funding is allocated to the Local Authority in 4 discrete blocks; schools, central services, early years, high needs. The schools block funds schools’ delegated budgets and the pupil growth fund. A schools block transfer involves funding schools at a lower level than they would otherwise have been for that year and transferring the funding withheld to one of the other 3 blocks, in this case, high needs.

The full consultation document outlines the detail of the local authority’s proposals. There is also a two-page summary and a spreadsheet showing individual school impact data. This spreadsheet also contains the consultation response form. We encourage all schools in the City to respond to the consultation and welcome any feedback or questions schools may have. Schools Forum will vote on whether to approve the proposals at their meeting on 9 October 2018 and need to be able to take account of the views of as many City schools as possible.

In the financial year 2018/19 the Department of Education introduced the National Funding Formula for schools. All local authorities are funded based on the new National Funding Formula from the financial year 2018/19 onwards but for the financial years, 2018/19 and 2019/20 local authorities will still be able to decide if they wish to have a Local Funding Formula or move to the National Funding Formula.

The consultation document outlines the local authority’s proposal for the funding of schools in the financial year 2018/19. We encourage all schools to respond to the consultation via the consultation response form and welcome any feedback or questions schools may have.

The deadline for submitting your responses to the consultation is 24th November 2017 at 5 pm.
