R2i: Inclusive Mainstream Provision (IMP)

- A Shared Vision for Inclusive Education in Nottingham City

The Inclusive Mainstream Provision (IMP) guidance sets out Nottingham City’s shared expectations for high-quality, inclusive practice in mainstream schools. 

Rooted in the principles of belonging, relational practice, coproduction and early intervention, the document provides practical guidance to help schools create learning environments where all children and young people, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), can thrive. 

It supports schools to strengthen their graduated response through the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle, make effective use of ordinarily available provision, and embed inclusive approaches across the four broad areas of need identified within the SEND Code of Practice. 

Developed in partnership with education professionals, specialist services and families, the IMP serves as both a practical resource and a call to action to ensure inclusion is not the exception, but the expectation, across Nottingham City.
