Learning Support Team
The Learning Support Team (LST) are dedicated advisory and specialist teachers providing expert advice and practical support to schools and settings for Children and Young People (CYP) and to those with High Level Needs (HLN) funding.
Our mission is to ensure CYP’s with SEND can access high quality learning and reach their full potential. Working in partnership with schools, professionals, families and caregivers creating and advising on inclusive environments, tailored strategies and interventions that make a measurable impact. Our support also equips schools with the tools to succeed and focuses on improving outcomes for every CYP with SEND.
We offer guidance across key areas of need including:
· Moderate Learning Difficulty (MLD), Global Developmental Delay, Genetic, and Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS)
· Severe Learning Difficulty (SLD)
· Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulty (PMLD)
· Physical Difficulty (PD) with associated learning needs
· Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD), Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia
· Downs Syndrome (DS)
· Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN): Speech and Language in line with learning development, this does not include social interaction, Specific Language Impairment, Developmental Language Disorder, Auditory Processing, Receptive and Expressive Language Delays
LST Core Offer to Schools (CYP’s with HLN):
· Plan a course of action for the year (July to September)
· At least x 1 Observation or Assessment for each identified core pupil
· Further visits may include working with staff, planning, teaching and modelling
· Attendance at EHCP Annual Review: the pupil must have prior LST involvement
· Attendance at Team Around the School Planning Meetings (TAS)
· Attendance at Team Around the Child Planning Meetings (TAC)
· Strategic Support: This includes Enhanced Provision, Curriculum Access and Planning, Assessment including BSquared Baselining, Interventions
· SEND Awareness Online Drop-in sessions each term with different themes
· Identified Transition Support: Key Year Groups

The Learning Support Team (LST) provides specialist assessments, high-quality CPD training, and strategic guidance to strengthen SEND provision in schools and settings. Our services help identify CYP’s individual needs, build staff expertise, and support leaders in developing inclusive practices that meet statutory requirements and improve outcomes CYP’s with SEND.

SEND Networks:
Networks are offered once each term in collaboration with the SEND Inclusion Support Service. Our Network sessions are all about collaboration and support. They bring together educators and support staff to share ideas, tackle challenges, and develop practical strategies that make a real difference for CYP’s. There are several opportunities to attend presentations led by Specialist Teachers, SEND Teaching Teams and external providers. The Networks include:
· SENDCO Networks (Primary & Secondary): A space to strengthen inclusive practice, share resources, and stay up to date with SEND requirements
· New SENDCO’s Network: Tailored guidance and mentoring for those stepping into the SENDCO role for the first time
· ECT Network: Helping early career teachers build confidence in SEND, classroom skills, and a strong support network
· TA Training Network: Practical SEND training and peer learning to empower teaching assistants in supporting pupil progress
