Developing Performance Management

High quality CPD for support staff team leaders and senior teaching assistants on:

  • developing an appraisal system for support staff
  • developing reviewer skills
  • setting robust performance targets
  • using the National Occupational Standards as a tool for measuring performance

Lesson Observation and Monitoring

Coaching approach for support staff team leaders and senior teaching assistants on how to effectively carry lesson observation and monitor the effectiveness of teaching assistants' work and deployment including:

  • undertaking paired observations
  • recording evaluative statements for records
  • involving teaching assistants in a dialogue for feedback

Lesson Study

Classroom based learning for teaching assistants including:

  • the use of data to agree a focus for pupils learning and progress
  • joint planning of study lessons to develop key areas
  • team teaching and observation focusing on case pupils' learning
  • interviewing case pupils to ascertain impact
  • post-lesson analysis and setting next steps for future development
