Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library delivers a free book for a child to keep and read with their family. They receive these from birth until their fifth birthday.

This scheme is proven to improve a child’s literacy skill which promotes school readiness and a better outcome through their school journey. The charity helps parents and children to enjoy exploring books together – looking at the pictures, talking about the stories and just having fun

There are now more than 3,900 local children registered with the scheme. It currently runs in 7 wards across Nottingham, but we want to do more we want to reach every Child, from 0-5yrs in the City! So we are setting our ‘Dolly champions’ challengers to support our fundraising

Can your School support Cllr Mellen in achieving his Challenge for January 2018?

In the month of January Cllr Mellen has been set the challenge of reading a story book to 2,018 children, not only this he has to ensure he reads the story within each of the 20 wards of the city.

Your school can help us by allowing Cllr Mellen into a class or assembly’s to read a story to your pupils.

Our ultimate aim with this challenge is to raise awareness of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library scheme and achieve continuous fundraising throughout the month of January and beyond.
