The Schools Financial Value Standard (SFVS) is a tool designed to assist schools in managing their finance and give assurance to ensure sound financial management in place
Governing bodies have formal responsibility for the financial management of their schools. The SFVS applies to all maintained schools and takes the form of a series of questions which school governing bodies should discuss with their Head Teacher and other staff if required. Schools Financial Value Standard has been updated with 25 questions for 2016 to 2017, it is due by 31st March 2017.
Schools are expected to conduct an assessment against SFVS every year. They can submit it at any time of the year but are required to update the return annually by the 31st March.
Once signed by the Chair of Governors please email or fax the scanned document to Schools Finance. If faxing, please ensure that the school name is clearly shown either on the first sheet or after the Chair's signature.
We are offering on-site training to all maintained schools if you have any queries about how to complete this assessment.
